The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders hosted the 2007 G. Paul Moore Symposium on February 14-15, 2008 in Emerson Alumni Hall. Featured speakers inlcuded Dr. Daniel Kempler of Emerson College, with a presentation on Communication Disorders in aging and Dr. Roger Ruth, University of Virginia, who presented on the topics of cochlear implants and tinnitus.
The department of Communication Science and Disorders hosted the Annual meeting of the Florida Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America on September 21, 2006. Betsy Vinson presented "Oral vs Written Feedback in Clinical Education" at the annual meeting of Southeast University Clinical Educators on Sept 21-22 in Greensboro, NC.
The University of Florida, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders hosted a special program provided by Gallaudet and the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) on October 27-29, 2006. HLAA and Gallaudet, under its Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Hearing Enhancement (RERC), conducted a two day joint hearing assistive technology (HAT) program which helped consumers become more informed advocates on all types of hearing assistive technology in their geographic area.
